Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mehdi Khamoushi made the remark in a meeting held at the organization’s headquarters in Tehran on Monday.
The Quranic community must have an official stance and, using Quranic components, strive to explain the Quranic lifestyle and spread it among the society, he stated.
“Undoubtedly, today the highest activity in an Islamic society is activity in various Quranic fields, and I am personally happy and pleased that this organization has taken steps to promote Quranic culture and the lifestyle influenced by it by regularly holding Quranic competitions.”
Elsewhere in the meeting, Hamid Majidimehr, head of the organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, said that like the previous edition, the hosting of the 42nd International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran will once again be with the holy city of Mashhad.
He also expressed his appreciation for the successful and eye-catching holding of the 47th National Holy Quran Competition in the northwestern city of Tabriz and said this year, from late October to early November, the Kurdistan Province and its capital, the city of Sanandaj, will host the 48th edition.
Today, among the many cultural events that are being held thanks to the Islamic Revolution, Quran competitions are the most enduring and authentic of them, he stated.
“We see that many organizations and ministries that are not even Quranic in nature have a member on the Supreme Headquarters of the Competitions and are themselves holding Quran competitions within the organization,” Majidimehr added.
“However, the main custodian of Quran competitions is the Awqaf and Charity Organization just as in most Islamic countries, the ministries of Awqaf of those countries are responsible for overseeing Quran competitions.”
